Courtney Ulrich is a theater director and a TV and film writer, director and producer. She is based in Los Angeles, but has worked extensively in New York. 

She is currently developing a television series with Automatik Entertainment and Field Trip Productions based on Tillie Walden’s acclaimed graphic novel, On a Sunbeam

Courtney’s short film Peter Has to Go to the Doctor screened at the Brooklyn Film Festival and SF Shorts. Her latest short film Nonna’s Nude recently finished post-production. 

She is a Member Artist of Ensemble Studio Theatre and a former Associate Artist of The Flea Theater. She won the Fringe Excellence Award in Directing for Sousepaw: A Baseball Story. Courtney has directed and developed plays with Ensemble Studio Theatre, The Tank, New Dramatists, New York Stage and Film, The Flea, 24 Hour Plays, Intar, The Brick, Arena Stage, Sojourn Theater, Ma-Yi, Target Margin Theater, Pipeline Theater, Cornerstone Theater, The Bushwick Starr and students at NYU’s Atlantic Theater School. She has also written, directed and performed comedy at UCB and The PIT.

Courtney was born in Chicago but spent most of her childhood in London. She has dual UK/US citizenship. She has a BA from Georgetown University in Theater and Performance Studies with a minor in Anthropology.
